Who Is Responsible For EVP?

If you ask 10 people who ‘owns’ EVP you’ll get at least 3 different answers. I know this, because I did.

It’s a debate as old as time – who should make EVP (Employee Value Proposition) happen?

This month we look at what person(s) or department(s) are responsible.

The newsletter is written by ME Joe Morrison, founder of Cheer At Work. Not AI. AI has its place, but no ‘fostering’, or ’em-dash’ in this article.

Typically you’ll find the answer to be:

  • People / HR teams: after all, EVP covers engagement, retention, benefits, and reward.
  • Marketing: because EVP is central to employer brand and how you attract talent.
  • Recruitment: will say they know the market best, as they’re the ones selling your story to candidates every day.
  • And in smaller businesses, the CEO might end up carrying the weight, because EVP can feel like “one more thing” no one else has time to own (like they have the time themselves, ain’t that right CEO’s!)

But in short, it’s everyone’s job…
