Engaging with the Disengaged
90% of the UK working population are disengaged, and disengaged doesn’t necessarily mean a ‘difficult’ employee, but when they may be lacking motivation, enthusiasm, and commitment.
Often it’s because they don’t feel heard, or don’t feel rewarded for the work they’re putting in.
Employers are expecting more without always being able to give as much in return, and in a challenging market, candidates are sacrificing engagement for job security.
In short, we’ve found that when employees stop giving input, it’s because they no longer believe it will make a difference.
An Employee Benefits study showed that just 12% of UK SME’s are prioritising employee engagement strategies.
So what do CHEER think?
Forget anonymous surveys, focus on real human interaction and connection. EVP is a way to understand employees, and drive better results.
You can make meaningful change with non-anonymous results from non-anonymous survey styles.
We believe that 10% engaged is too small, it’s time to make that number bigger, so employees get more from work and employers get more from employees.
How to engage employees?
- Communicate
- Use ‘Influencers’ (no, not YouTubers, those from within)
- Share progress
- Utilise EVP
Find out what we mean, and how we do it – this is just part of a more detailed article from founder Joe Morrison posted on Linkedin.
